Danger Squad in "Night of the Sponge" Origins 2007, Colombus, OH, 2007 "Danger Squad" was originally inspired by Warren Ellis's "Nextwave" comic--second-string superheroes protecting America from "Weapons of Unusual Destruction." Saving the world by beating people up, as it's been described. While the game was billed as Comedy/Action, I didn't want it to be The Tick or Stuperpowers! funny. I wanted the comedy to come from over-the-top action, all-too-human failings, and playing up classic superhero tropes. I'm still not sure where the game ended up on the comedy spectrum.
